Australia's latest Test cricketer Beau Webster hit the winning runs for their side as the Baggy Greens reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Day 3 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The Tasmanian stepped down the track to hammer a boundary down the ground off Washington Sundar's bowling and roared after the victory.

The incident occurred in the 27th over of the innings as Washington Sundar came on to bowl in the Sydney Test for the first time. Webster and Travis Head took singles in the first three deliveries, followed by the former smacking a boundary by being on the back foot. The fifth delivery saw the towering all-rounder come down the track and thump it straight to seal a six-wicket victory.

India started the day at 141/6 but managed to add only 16 more runs as Scott Boland and Pat Cummins ran through India to take the remaining four wickets quickly. Boland, who claimed four wickets on Day 2, added a couple more to his tally to finish with six scalps.

The 31-year-old, who replaced the out-of-form Mitchell Marsh, has enjoyed a stellar start to his international career. The seam-bowling all-rounder bowled quite well in the first innings without success and scored a critical half-century in the opening dig in Sydney to limit India's lead to a slender four runs.

Webster's first international victim turned out to be Shubman Gill, who inside-edged one on day two to Alex Carey behind the stumps. With Jasprit Bumrah unfit to bowl on day three in Sydney, the tourists' bowling attack was severely depleted. However, Prasidh Krishna still stood up, taking three wickets before lunch to put the home side under pressure.

Nevertheless, Head (34*), Webster (39*) and Usman Khawaja (41) crafted crucial knocks to ensure Australia got over the line and sealed the series 3-1. In the process, Cummins and co. also made a place in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. They will meet South Africa at the Lord's Cricket Ground as the big clash begins on June 11.
