[Watch] Ben Duckett smashes six fours in an over off Akeal Hosein in BBL 2024-25

England and Melbourne Stars opener Ben Duckett smashed West Indies' Akeal Hosein for six fours in an over in the Big Bash League match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers on Thursday, December 26. The match is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Sydney Sixers won the toss and elected to bowl first in their third contest. They struck early in the innings, dismissing Tom Fraser Rogers in the second over of the game. Duckett walked out to open alongside Rogers but was kept quiet until the last over of the powerplay.

In the last over of the powerplay bowled by Akeal Hosein, Ben Duckett went ballistic and decided to take the spinner on. He smoked him for five consecutive boundaries in the over and post that, Sydney Sixers skipper Moises Henriques held a short conference in the middle to see what could be done. Duckett was relentless and hit one more over the bowler's head to end the over with 24 runs, all of them coming in fours.

Ben Duckett scores a 29-ball-68 in BBL 2024-25

After being asked to bat first, Duckett opened the innings alongside Tom Fraser Rogers. Rogers took the initiative to go hard at the top of the order but was dismissed in the second over. Following that, Duckett took it upon himself as the English international went ballistic in the last over of the powerplay, scoring six boundaries to end the phase.

Duckett would hit his way throughout the knock and hit a maximum to get to his half-century. He would continue batting in similar fashion, hitting Jackson Bird for two boundaries and maximum on the first three balls of the ninth over before being caught at deep third man.

Ben Duckett scored 68 runs in 29 balls, with 10 fours and two maximums. The Melbourne Stars are at 116/3 after 10 overs, with a drinks break taken.
