England wicketkeeper-batter Ollie Pope got out in a bizarre fashion on Day 4 (Tuesday, December 17) of the third Test against New Zealand at the Seddon Park in Hamilton. The incident happened on the fourth ball of the 43rd over during England's second innings.

The 26-year-old, batting on 17, went for a reverse-scoop off speedster Matt Henry's bowling, only to see the cherry hitting the top of the off stump as he missed it completely.

Here's the video of Ollie Pope's dismissal against New Zealand:

Chasing a mammoth 658 runs for a series whitewash, England got off to a disastrous start in their second innings, as they lost both their openers with just 18 runs on the board. While Jacob Bethell and Joe Root scored half-centuries, Gus Atkinson made useful 43 runs off just 41 balls coming down the order. But it wasn't enough for the visitors who had to achieve a huge target, as the rest of their batters failed to step up when it mattered the most.

With no major contribution from others, England were eventually bowled out for 234 runs in 47.2 overs, losing the contest by 423 runs. Despite the heavy defeat, they went on to clinch the series 2-1.

New Zealand's Mitchell Santner was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round display in both innings of this encounter. Having amassed 350 runs across five innings, England's Harry Brook - the number one ranked Test batter - was named the Player of the Series.
