Daryl Mitchell took a sharp catch to dismiss Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. The catch ended Kohli's innings of 47 runs off 29 balls, an innings laced with four sixes and three boundaries.

The dismissal came in the 10th over of RCB's innings. Mitchell Santner bowled a sharp delivery that drifted in and spun away from the leg stump and Kohli was shaping for the whip. The right-hander closed the face of the bat as he played against the turn but only managed a big edge and the ball lobbed down to Mitchell at long-on.

Mitchell kept his eyes on the ball as he backpedaled and took the catch. The New Zealander realized that he was stepping onto the ropes. He threw the ball up, came back and took it on the rebound.

Virat Kohli is currently the leading runscorer in IPL 2024 with 708 runs in 14 matches, including one century and five 50s. He would hope that his innings help RCB reach the playoffs. The hosts must win the game by 18 runs to surpass CSK's net run rate (NRR) to finish in the final four of the points table.

The right-hander will look to carry his sublime for the Men in Blue in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. The mega ICC event will be played in the USA and the West Indies in June.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis provide blistering start for RCB vs CSK in IPL 2024 match

RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli provided a promising start against CSK in their last league game on Sunday. The duo shared a 78-run partnership for the opening wicket. Du Plessis scored 54 off 39 deliveries with the help of three sixes and as many boundaries.

At the time of writing, RCB were 113/2 after 13 overs, with Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar at the crease.

As far as CSK is concerned, a win would help them progress to playoffs. If it rains once again, it will also help them finish in top four.
