MI New York's (MINY) Dewald Brevis took a stunning catch in the deep to dismiss Josh Inglis in the 2024 Major League Cricket (MLC) encounter against the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Brevis has only played a handful of matches in the ongoing tournament.
San Francisco Unicorns were in deep trouble after losing their top order inside the powerplay. They were reeling at 19-3 in the sixth over when Inglis and Sherfane Rutherford were looking to repair the innings.
Inglis, struggling at one run after facing six deliveries, tried to get going with a whip through the leg side after Romario Shepherd pitched it full on his pads. Brevis did not get the early momentum as he attempted to sprint to his left from deep square leg. However, he made up for it by executing a brilliant dive and claiming the ball inches from the ground.

SFU were further reduced to 33-5 in the eighth over before skipper Corey Anderson led from the front with an unbeaten fifty to help the side post a competitive 148-7 on the board.
Brevis scored 56 runs off 36 balls during the run chase
Brevis scored just two runs in MI New York's recent heavy defeat to the Washington Freedom but came out all guns blazing against San Francisco. Despite his opening partner Ruben Clinton being dismissed for a six-ball duck, Brevis played positively with Nicholas Pooran at the other end.
He scored 56 runs off 36 balls with the aid of five fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 155.56 to put MI New York in a commanding position during the run chase. They were placed at 79-2 after 10 overs when Brody Couch dismissed Brevis.
However, MI New York lost the plot in the latter half of the innings and soon collapsed to 108-6 in the 17th over. Rashid Khan and Heath Richards tried to take the side across the line with their cameos but fell three runs short.
