Australian skipper Pat Cummins said that he did not have much empathy for Jasprit Bumrah after the latter ended up on the losing side after putting in so much of hard work. Cummins made the remark in the post-match press conference of the fourth Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Bumrah toiled hard to take nine wickets in the MCG Test match. He bowled 28.4 overs in the first innings and then 24.4 overs in the second innings to help India bowl Australia out twice in the Test match.

Overall, Bumrah has taken 30 wickets in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, averaging 12.83. When a journalist asked Pat Cummins if he had any empathy for Bumrah, the Australian captain quickly replied:

"Empathy? Not too much. (smiles)." [7.21 onwards]

Jasprit Bumrah was so exhausted after bowling on the fourth day of the MCG Test that he asked captain Rohit Sharma for a break. The other Indian pacers toiled hard as well, but they could not support Bumrah perfectly.

"He has been their most influential player" - Pat Cummins praises Jasprit Bumrah

During the same press conference, Pat Cummins further shared his views on Jasprit Bumrah's overall performance in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

He highlighted how Bumrah has been India's most influential player and said:

"He is obviously a really good bowler in great form. He has been their most influential player. He has made it difficult for us at times. I thought all their bowlers bowled really well yesterday. The pitch wasn't really doing too much, but they made it tough for us and toiled hard."

Cummins won the Player of the Match award for scoring 90 runs and picking up six wickets in the MCG Test match against India. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy series will head to Sydney next for the fifth Test. India will aim to win the Sydney Test and draw the series 2-2.
