Former Team India skipper Sunil Gavaskar looked emotional when he met all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy's family members on Sunday, December 29. Nitish's family members also took the blessings of Gavaskar.
Nitish Kumar Reddy scored a scintillating ton against Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After that, BCCI's official account on social media platform X shared a video of Nitish meeting his family members, with his parents and siblings meeting him at the team hotel.
On Sunday, December 29, a video of Nitish Kumar Reddy's parents meeting Gavaskar was doing the rounds on the internet. Nitish's father, Mutyala Reddy, was seen seeking the blessings of the former batting stalwart. Gavaskar, who also got a bit emotional, said:
"Inka sacrifice aap jaante hai. Aur aap ki wajah se meri aankhon me aansu aa rahe hai. Aapki wajah se, Bharat ko ek heera mila hai. (You know the sacrifices they have made. Because of this, I have tears in my eyes. Thanks to you, India has unearthed a gem)."

Nitish Kumar Reddy walked out to bat at number 8 and scored 114 runs off 189 deliveries thanks to 11 boundaries and a six. By doing so, Nitish became the third-youngest Indian to score a century on Australian soil after Team India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar and his current teammate and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant.
Nitish also has sent a few overs down in the recent Test. In the first innings, he bowled seven overs and conceded 21 runs while in Australia's second innings, he bowled only one over and conceded four runs.
