Former South African captain AB de Villiers joined the national men's team for a football drill inside the dressing room during the rain break in the first Test against Pakistan at the Supersport Park in Centurion. In a video shared by the Proteas' men's team's social media handle, the retired cricketer was seen dribbling the football along with the current squad.

De Villiers, who played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 ODIs from 2004 to 2018, emerged as one of the best in the country. The 40-year-old had a wide array of shots in his book and redefined the art of batting in the shortest format.

The keeper-batter announced a shock retirement from international cricket in May 2018 but continued to play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) until the 2021 edition.

All the current South African players were seen sharing fun moments with the 40-year-old as everyone looked in good spirits and kept themselves entertained during the rain-induced break.

As far as the result of the Test goes, the Proteas managed to eke out a nail-biting two-wicket victory over Pakistan at the venue.

After electing to bowl first on Day 1 at the overcast Supersport Park, the hosts managed to restrict the opposition to 211. South Africa took a 90-run lead and they delivered another disciplined bowling performance to skittle the tourists for 237, setting themselves 148 to chase down.

However, the target proved to be far from comfortable as the Proteas finished Day 4 at 27/3 and eventually collapsed to 99/8. Nevertheless, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen stood up and took advantage of some loose bowling from Pakistan in the post-lunch session.

The home side did not lose another wicket as Rabada and Jansen stitched an unbroken 51-run stand to take their side home. In the process, South Africa became the first side to reach the final of this WTC cycle.
