A video of Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir doing some shadow practice in the dressing room has emerged on social media amid the visitors' batting woes in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The former India batter has been under scrutiny since the Test team went down 3-0 to New Zealand at home.
India got off to an impressive start in the 2024-25 BGT, winning the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, registering their biggest Test win Down Under in terms of runs. However, Australia made an excellent comeback to win the pink-ball Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets. The hosts have also dominated the ongoing Brisbane Test. After posting 445 in their first innings, they reduced India to 51-4 by Stumps on Day 3.
Meanwhile, in a video shared by a user on X, head coach Gambhir is seen doing some shadow practice with the bat in the Indian dressing room. A lot of questions are being asked of the head coach and his support staff following the constant failures of Team India's batting unit.
On Day 3 of The Gabba Test on Monday, December 16, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and keeper-batter Rishabh Pant for single-figure scores. The visitors' job of survival became doubly difficult due to numerous rain interruptions.
"Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page" - Basit Ali
Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has made a shocking allegation that Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gambhir aren't on the same page. On his YouTube channel, he commented:
"Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page, be it the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, which was a weak series; or the New Zealand series after that. In the second and third (Tests), they (Rohit and Gambhir) are not on the same page, like Rahul Dravid was. He and Rohit were on the same page."
Gambhir took over as head coach of the Indian team after Dravid's stint came to an end following the Men in Blue's triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which was held in the West Indies and the USA.
