Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell pulled off a stunning catch at the boundary for his Big Bash League (BBL) side Melbourne Stars against the Brisbane Heat on Wednesday, January 1. Both teams are squaring off at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Maxwell handed over the captaincy reins to fellow teammate Marcus Stoinis. He missed the first couple of games due to an injury and is now available for selection.
The Brisbane Heat had an awful start to the innings after being asked to bat first. However, Max Bryant (77*) and Paul Walter (21) stitched together a good partnership to bail the team out of choppy water. The dismissal of Walter brought Will Prestwidge into the middle who couldn't make much of an impression, thanks to a splendid effort from Maxwell.
On the first ball of the 17th over bowled by Daniel Lawrence, Prestwidge launched a hit down the ground over Maxwell at long off. However, the 36-year-old went airborne and clutched the ball firmly in his grasp, parrying it back into the field of play and holding onto it nicely when he got back inside the fence.
Take a look at the catch below:
Glenn Maxwell's catch ensured that Daniel Lawrence picked up the seventh wicket of his BBL career. The batter, Will Prestwidge, was dismissed for four runs off nine deliveries.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Melbourne Stars were all over the Brisbane Heat batting lineup, picking up three wickets inside the first five overs. By the 13th over, Heat had lost five wickets and were staring down the barrel when Max Bryant helped them post a sizeable total on the board.
The Stars are on the hunt for their maiden win this season. They have played five games so far and languish at the bottom of the table, with five losses on the trot.
