New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips dismissed Team India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant for 18 on Day 2 (Friday, October 25) of the second Test between India and New Zealand. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune is hosting the second game of the three-match series.

Pant walked out to bat after Mitchell Santner dismissed Virat Kohli. The left-hander looked in good touch as he hit a couple of boundaries on his way to 18 and seemed to have carried his form from the first Test in Bengaluru.

However, on the second ball of the 31st over bowled by Phillps, the 27-year-old opted for a big swipe across the line. The bounce deceived Pant as it kept low and went under his swinging willow to disturb the woodwork and end his knock.

Take a look at the dismissal below:

Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 18 runs off 19 deliveries. His dismissal brought Sarfaraz Khan to the middle, leaving India in disarray at 83/5 in the 31st over.

Team India in trouble as they lose 6 wickets in first session on Day 2 of IND vs NZ 2024 2nd Test

After losing skipper Rohit Sharma (0 off 9) late yesterday and scoring 16 runs in 11 overs, Team India's overnight batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, built a steady partnership. However, Gill was trapped LBW for 30 by Mitchell Santner, becoming the second Indian wicket to fall.

Since then, wickets have fallen in heaps, with ace batter Virat Kohli (1) getting bowled after missing a full-toss. Jaiswal (30), Rishabh Pant (18) and Sarfaraz Khan (11) all got starts but couldn't stay out in the middle for long. Ravichandran Ashwin (4) was the last Indian batter to be dismissed in the session, with the hosts reeling at 107/7 at Lunch.

Earlier in the game, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. The Kiwis posted 259 on the board with half-centuries from Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65). Washington Sundar, playing a Test for Team India after a gap of three years, starred with figures of 7/59 while Ashwin accounted for the other three wickets.
