On the opening day (Thursday, December 26) of the ongoing fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test, Rohit Sharma was heard calling out his Indian teammate while fielding in the slips.
Steve Smith defended a ball off Ravindra Jadeja and soon after, the Indian skipper called out Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was fielding at the silly mid-off region. Jaiswal was up halfway through Smith playing his defense. Rohit called him out from the slips, asking the young opener to keep sitting until the ball was completely played and not get up from his position.
Rohit told Jaiswal:
"Ae Jaissu, gully cricket khel raha hai kya? Neeche baith ke reh. Jab tak ball khelega nahi uthne ka nahi. Neeche baith ke reh. (Jaiswal, are you playing gully cricket? Sit down. Till the ball isn't played do not get up. Sit down and wait)."

Tough opening day in Melbourne for Rohit Sharma and company
Day 1 of the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test in Melbourne has been a tough one for the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team. Young opener Sam Konstas made his Test debut for Australia and alongside Usman Khawaja, put up an 89-run stand for the opening wicket as the hosts opted to bat first.
He scored 60 runs off 65 deliveries, taking on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. His opening partner Khawaja also scored a half-century (57 off 121) before being dismissed.
At the time of writing, Australia were 233/2 at the end of 64 overs. Steve Smith is unbeaten on 41 off 60 deliveries with his partner Marnus Labuschagne at the other end on 69 off 140 deliveries.
India finding it tough to make the breakthroughs explains why Rohit Sharma called out Jaiswal on the field, expecting him to be in a position to grab any opportunity that could come their way.
