Bollywood superstar Salman Khan extended his birthday wishes to former India captain MS Dhoni, who turned 43 on Sunday, July 7. Salman was present at Dhoni’s birthday in Mumbai as the duo attended the wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

Dhoni and Salman share a great friendship and are often spotted together when the former India captain stays in Mumbai. The ace cricketer also owns Dhoni Entertainment Private Limited (since 2019).

Sharing a picture on Instagram, Salman captioned the post:

Earlier, Dhoni’s wife Sakhi shared a video where the legendary wicketkeeper-batter was seen cutting a cake.

Notably, Dhoni is Salman Khan’s favorite cricketer. In an old interaction, Salman told Star Sports:

"From North a guy came to South as Chennai's captain. Dhoni, he is my favorite.”

On the professional front, Salman was last seen in Tiger 3. The 58-year-old is currently shooting for Sikandar, which is slated to be released in theatres next year.

“My father believes that MS Dhoni has been the best Indian captain so far” – Salman Khan

Salman Khan once revealed that MS Dhoni is his father’s (Salim Khan) first-choice captain. He asked a question regarding the superstar wicketkeeper in "Dus ka Dam", the popular TV show's second season.

Salman asked:

"What percentage of Indians believe that in comparison to Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly, and Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni has been the best captain for the Indian cricket team so far?"
"My father believes that MS Dhoni has been the best Indian captain so far. Cool mind, positive energy, no wild celebration. He maintains the dignity on the field. Cricket used to be a gentleman’s game, he has maintained it," he added.

Dhoni is the most successful Indian captain in white-ball formats. He guided the Men in Blue to victories at the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. The 43-year-old has also won five Indian Premier League (IPL) trophies with Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Rohit Sharma recently became the second Indian captain to lift the T20 World Cup by winning the 2024 edition.
