Former India skipper Virat Kohli is arguably the most followed cricketer in the world. He has fans across the length and breadth of the planet, and in a recent heartwarming video on the internet, a fan can be seen telling his son about the star batter.

Kohli is currently in Melbourne, gearing up for the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. The penultimate Test of the series is scheduled to commence on Thursday, December 26.

During one of India's training sessions at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), a man was recently seen introducing Kohli to his son from a distance while the cricketer was batting. The father said:

"He is the best batsman in the world."

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has blown hot and cold so far in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After getting out for five in the first innings of the Perth Test, Kohli bounced back with a resounding hundred to help India secure a 295-run victory.

Since then, his batting form has witnessed a dip. The right-hander has managed only 21 runs in the next three innings at a dismal average of seven.

With the series currently tied at 1-1, the 36-year-old needs to step up with the bat as the visitors look to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

"Could be the difference-maker" - Sanjay Bangar highlights Virat Kohli's role in MCG Test

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar reckons that Kohli needs to play more deliveries close to his front pad. He added that the star Indian batter could be the 'difference-maker' if he follows this method.

"Play as many balls as possible close to your front pad and then the runs will flow. It's not that he hasn't scored runs; he scored a century three innings ago," Bangar said during a discussion on Star Sports via NDTV.
“Virat's role in this high-stakes encounter could be the difference-maker. He has done it before at the MCG, and there is no reason why he can't do it again," he added.

Virat Kohli enjoys a stellar record in Melbourne, having amassed 316 runs in three Tests at an average of 52.66. He has the highest score of 169 at this venue, which came during the 2014 tour Down Under.
