A hilarious incident took place in the ongoing Big Bash League game between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder at the Perth Stadium on Friday, January 3. It involved the Thunder's skipper David Warner, who was struck on the pads while trying to whip a ball away to the leg side.
The incident happened in the 10th over of the second innings, with the Thunder chasing a target of 178. Spinner Matthew Spoors bowled a quick and flat delivery on middle and leg that skidded and went on to rap Warner on the back pad as he tried to glance it away.
The fielding side appealed but the umpire termed it not out. The Scorchers decided to take a review, and soon after Warner started walking back to the pavilion thinking that his time was up. However, replays suggested that the ball would just be grazing the stumps, and thus the umpire's call was upheld. Warner then returned to the crease.
