[Watch] Imad Wasim recalled by umpires after being declared out initially; decision leads to major tussle and 10-minute delay

Trinbago Knight Riders v Antigua & Barbuda Falcons - Men
Imad Wasim returned after a controversial call to win the game for ABF

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) all-rounder Imad Wasim was at the heart of a controversial moment during the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) clash against the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). Imad had a huge role to play in a tricky run chase after ABF restricted TKR to 134 in the first innings.

The left-handed batter was up against Sunil Narine after coming into bat in the 10th over following Hassan Khan's dismissal. Imad was struck on the pad off his first ball at the crease, leading to an appeal by TKR. After the on-field umpire adjudged not out, skipper Kieron Pollard opted for a review.

The ultra edge did show a spike, but with the bat being close to the pad, the chance of an edge was ruled out. With the ball tracking showing three reds, the on-field decision was reversed, leaving Imad enraged.

He tried to plead his case with the umpire about the inside edge but had to return to the pavilion. The all-rounder continued to protest while walking back, confronting the fourth umpire straightaway after crossing the boundary rope.

ABF coach Sir Curtly Ambrose was fuming at the entire charade, making animated gestures to make his case. Have a look at the saga right here:

The on-field umpire then received communication from the third umpire to reverse the decision. It was TKR's turn to fume as Imad Wasim returned to bat from the dressing room.

TKR skipper Pollard and Wasim had a heated argument, and after a delay of almost 10 minutes, play resumed with the previous delivery being adjudged a dot ball.

Imad Wasim scored an unbeaten 36 off 27 deliveries to help ABF complete a double over TKR in CPL 2024

ABF were placed at 68-3 after 10 overs after the saga surrounding Imad Wasim's dismissal was resolved. The low-scoring game was hanging in the balance, with both sides having a say.

Imad and Justin Greaves stitched up a crucial partnership before the latter was retired hurt. The Pakistan all-rounder remained unbeaten till the end to chase down the score with an over to spare.

"Absolute chaos, it was given out but it shouldn't have. He (Imad) walked off the field, he shouldn't have but he was asked to," ABF skipper Chris Green said during the post-match presentation (via Cricbuzz).

Meanwhile, TKR skipper Pollard said:

"If I speak, I'm getting into trouble so I would stay diplomatic."

Both of TKR's losses this season have come against ABF. The Pollard-led side are second in the points table with eight points.
