Adelaide Stars' bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton warned Finn Allen of a run-out at the non-striker's end during the Big Bash League (BBL) fixture against the Perth Scorchers at the Adelaide Oval. Although the Englishman had broken the stumps, he told the umpire and the non-striker that it was only a warning on this occasion.

The incident occurred in the eighth over of Perth's innings. With Overton running in, he observed that Finn Allen was quick to get off the mark at the non-striker's end. While the former indicated that it was only a warning for the Kiwi batter on this occasion, he later exchanged some heated words.

Here's the video of the incident:

Allen replied in style by hitting a six over extra cover two deliveries later.

Meanwhile, Allen was quite unperturbed by the incident as he raced to a quick-fire half-century before Brendan Doggett cleaned him up for a 23-ball 50. Earlier, the Strikers delivered an underwhelming batting performance as only D'arcy Short and skipper Alex Ross managed to reach double figures among their top five.

Doggett (47*) and Cameron Boyce (29*) delivered the much-needed impetus in the lower order with an unbroken partnership of 84 off 60 deliveries, taking their team to 142. In the chase, Adelaide's Henry Thornton struck twice within the powerplay to send Matty Hurst (3) and Aaron Hardie (2) packing cheaply.

Nevertheless, Allen and Connolly stitched a timely 84-run stand to put the run chase back on track. After the New Zealand batter's departure, captain Ashton Turner took control by hitting an unbeaten 35 off 18 balls, including two sixes and a boundary to seal the win for Perth.

Connolly earned the Player of the Match award for his 48 not out. The Scorchers will next face the Sydney Thunder on January 3, while the Strikers will lock horns against the Melbourne Renegades on January 2.
