[Watch] Jasprit Bumrah dismisses Marnus Labuschagne for 2 in 5th Test of BGT 2024-25

Skipper Jasprit Bumrah gave Team India a perfect start on Day 2 by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne in the fifth over of the day's play. The incident occurred in the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday, January 4.

Australia began the morning session of Day 2 with the scoreboard reading 9/1, having lost Usman Khawaja in the last ball before stumps on Day 1. Bumrah, fired up after a heated exchange with debutant Sam Konstas last afternoon, took no time to get the better of Labuschagne who scored twin fifties in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

It was a length delivery from the ace speedster that seemed to kick up a bit after pitching. The ball went away from the batter a little, enough to draw a faint edge from Labuschagne's bat. Jasprit Bumrah knew it immediately and went for the review. There was a clear spike on the Snicko and the umpire had to reverse his decision.

Speaking of the match, India, who rested incumbent captain Rohit Sharma, won the toss and opted to bat first. They endured another batting failure but fighting knocks from Rishabh Pant (40) and Ravindra Jadeja (26) helped the visitors stretch the total past 150.

They were eventually bundled out for 185, with Scott Boland returning with a four-wicket haul.

Jasprit Bumrah now has the most wickets among Indian bowlers in a series in Australia

The dismissal of Marnus Labuschagne took Jasprit Bumrah's tally to 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 - the most by an Indian bowler in a single series on Australian soil.

He leapfrogged former left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi who picked up 31 wickets during India's tour down under in 1977-78. BS Chandrasekhar now occupies the third spot for his 25 scalps in the same tour.
