Team India's pace ace and skipper Jasprit Bumrah got the better of Australian opener Usman Khawaja, ensuring the visitors got back at the hosts towards the end of Day 1 (Friday, January 3) of the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test at the SCG. Post the dismissal, all the Indian players looked animated and surrounded Sam Konstas, who was involved in a little exchange with Bumrah before the fall of the wicket.

On the last ball of the third over during Australia's first innings, Jasprit Bumrah managed to draw a leading edge off Usman Khawaja, who looked to defend the ball and end the day. However, the ball flew straight into the hands of KL Rahul in the slip cordon, as he held on and completed the dismissal.

While celebrating the wicket, Bumrah and the other members of Team India surrounded Konstas who was walking towards the wicketkeeper's end. The 19-year-old was involved in a little dialogue with Jasprit Bumrah, who thought Khawaja was wasting time to ensure that it was the last over before Stumps.

Take a look at the dismissal and the celebrations that followed:

Jasprit Bumrah struck a telling blow for Team India, dismissing Usman Khawaja for the sixth time in nine innings in the ongoing series. He was dismissed for two runs off 10 deliveries. Australia finished Day 1 at 9/1 after three overs.

Team India score 185 in the first innings of the 5th BGT 2024-25 Test

After winning the toss and electing to bat under overcast conditions, Team India managed 185 in their first essay. The visitors saw a huge change in the team, with regular skipper Rohit Sharma opting to sit out this game. Openers KL Rahul (4 off 14) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (10 off 26) were sent back to the hut as early as the eighth over.

Rishabh Pant (40 off 98), Ravindra Jadeja (26 off 95), and Jasprit Bumrah (22 off 17) chipped in with the runs as the visitors swelled the total. They currently have the hosts trailing by 176 runs and will be looking to knock off the poles tomorrow to take as much of a lead as possible.
