Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah got the better of Travis Head yet again in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG to reach the 200-wicket milestone in the longest format of the game. After a duck in the first innings, the left-handed batter could only record one run in the second innings after Nitish Kumar Reddy caught him at mid-wicket in a soft dismissal.
Steve Smith's departure to Mohammed Siraj gave India some room to roar back into the game, and Bumrah made the most of it. Coming around the wicket to the left-handed batter, the pacer bowled a delivery on length. Head hopped to deal with the bounce and tried to flick it towards the on-side. However, he could only get a poor connection while failing to keep it down, as the ball lobbed towards mid-wicket.
Have a look at the dismissal right here:
Head, who celebrates his birthday on Day 5 of the Boxing Day Test, had another outing to forget as he had to make his way to the pavilion after yet another failure. His inclusion in the contest was doubtful after a groin injury in the third Test and had to pass a late fitness test to retain his place in the playing XI.
In the first innings, he was bowled by Bumrah for a duck with a delivery that hit the top of the off stump, leaving the batter entangled in the crease with the angle.
Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey in the same spell to leave Australia reeling
The ace pacer needed only 44 Tests to reach the 200-wicket milestone. However, it was just the start as he proceeded to dismiss both Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey in quick succession to leave Australia struggling at 91-6 in the second session on Day 4.
Bumrah got Marsh to edge one to Rishabh Pant in the same over as he dismissed Head. In his very next over, he got the better of Alex Carey by casting him with a stunning delivery. Australia's current lead reads 196 runs with Marnus Labuschagne the sole frontline batter remaining.
