England pacer Jofra Archer dismissed Andre Russell for his first-ever wicket at The Hundred during the clash between the Southern Brave and London Spirit at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday, July 24. The two came face-to-face in the latter half of the first innings, leading to a brief but memorable tussle.

Injuries and national commitment prevented Archer from partaking in the competition till now. After having recently represented England in the 2024 T20 World Cup to mark his official comeback following a long hiatus, the express pacer continued the momentum into the 2024 edition of The Hundred.

Southern Brave's Archer came into the attack after 10 deliveries to have a go with the new ball. He conceded seven runs in his first set of balls, following it up with giving away just a couple of runs. He was up against Russell in his third set when the London Spirit were tottering after losing half of their side inside the first half of the innings.

Archer's set began with Dan Lawrence hitting him for a boundary. Russell joined the party by smashing a six towards midwicket off the penultimate delivery. Archer, however, got revenge straightaway.

He dished out a shortish delivery which Russell tried to guide towards the third man. But he connected it too well to be caught in the deep by Craig Overton.

Have a look at their face-off right here:

Russell scored 13 runs off seven deliveries and the London Spirit were propelled to 138-9, courtesy of a Liam Dawson cameo.

Archer conceded only 24 runs off 20 deliveries on his debut

The speedster was brought back into the attack in the final phase of the innings and conceded only four runs to end his promising spell. A tight bowling display by Archer and the rest of the bowling attack ensured London Spirit were restricted to a sub-par total.

The champions of the inaugural edition ended up chasing down the score quite comfortably. The Southern Brave wrapped up the contest with seven wickets and 11 deliveries to spare.
