Pakistan pacer Khurram Shahzad broke the 165-run partnership between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das to complete his five-wicket haul on Day 3 (Sunday, September 1) of the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh. The speedster took an easy catch on his followthrough to bring the hosts back into the match. Shehzad had already bagged four wickets during the first session of Day 3.

The dismissal took place in the 52nd over of Bangladesh’s first innings. Shahzad bowled a full-length ball and Miraz went for a straight shot over the bowler but ended up playing it way too high on the bat as the pacer took an easy catch. Mehidy departed for 78 runs off 124 balls, a knock laced with one six and 12 boundaries.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Litton Das helped Bangladesh recover after early damage on Day 3. That came after the visitors were reduced to 26/6. Notably, visiting captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan departed for single-digit scores.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh were 193/8 at tea, with Litton Das (83 off 129) and Taskin Ahmed (1 off 5) at the crease. Khurram Shahzad has been the pick of the Pakistan bowlers, picking up six wickets so far. Mir Hamza has taken the other two wickets.

Batting first, Pakistan posted 274 in their first innings. Captain Shan Masood, Saim Ayub and Agha Salman chipped in with half-centuries each. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan contributed 31 and 29, respectively.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred with the ball for Bangladesh, finishing with a five-wicket haul. Taskin Ahmed also bagged three wickets, while Nahid Rana and Shakib Al Hasan settled for one apiece.

Bangladesh are leading the two-match Test series 1-0 following their 10-wicket win over Pakistan in the opening game at the same venue. It was the visitors’ first win over Pakistan in Test cricket.
