Kuldeep Yadav drew first blood for India against New Zealand in the first Test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Day 2 (Thursday, October 17). The left-arm spinner dismissed Latham for 15 runs off 49 balls as the Kiwis lost their first wicket at 67.
The dismissal came in the 18th over of the visitors' first innings. Kuldeep bowled a googly, which Latham failed to read. The southpaw played outside the line of the ball while trying to defend it. The ball hit the pads and looked plumb but on-field umpires thought otherwise. Kuldeep convinced skipper Rohit Sharma to take the review. The replays showed that the ball would’ve hit the middle and leg stump.

New Zealand lead India by 36 runs at Tea on Day 2
A clinical bowling display helped New Zealand dominate India on Day 2.
At the time of writing, the visitors were 82/1 after 20 overs, with Devon Conway (61 off 64 balls) and Will Young (5 off 7 deliveries) at the crease. The Blackcaps are leading by 36 runs with nine wickets left.
Opting to bat first, India were bundled out for 46 in the first innings. This was their lowest-ever total in home Tests. As many as five players departed for ducks - Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Rishabh Pant top scored with 20 off 49 deliveries, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma departed for 13 (63) and 2 (16), respectively.
Matt Henry starred with the ball for New Zealand, returning with a fifer. William O'Rourke bagged four wickets.
The Kiwis are searching for their first Test win in India since their 136-run victory in Wankhede in 1988. India won the two sides' last game at home by 372 runs in 2021, winning the series 1-0.
