Team India's newest squad member Mayank Yadav was seen bowling in the nets ahead of the three-game T20I series against Bangladesh, beginning on October 6 in Gwalior. The right-arm pacer, along with the likes of Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh, was seen running in, with bowling coach Morne Morkel mentoring them.

The 22-year-old is one of the three uncapped players in the T20I squad to face Bangladesh and his inclusion was arguably the highlight. The youngster attracted plenty of eyeballs during IPL 2024 as he sent down rockets while plying his trade for the Lucknow Super Giants as he clocked above 145 mph consistently. However, Mayank managed to play only four matches as an injury cut short his season.

Nevertheless, he took seven wickets in those at 12.14 apiece, including a couple of three-wicket hauls. Keeping in mind Mayank's potential, a few experts also called for his inclusion in the Test squad for the upcoming five-match series against Australia. However, the youngster has played only one first-class fixture which came in December 2023.

Meanwhile, the home side swept the preceding two-Test series against Bangladesh 2-0 convincingly. Ravichandran Ashwin's all-round efforts were pivotal in fashioning a 280-run win. The veteran spinner scored a first-innings ton and took six wickets in the fourth.

The second Test in Kanpur witnessed one of the remarkable wins by Team India in the format. With days two and three lost due to persistent rain and wet outfield, India came out all guns blazing on all fronts to force a result on Day 5 with over 40 overs to spare.

Rohit Sharma and co. are also at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table.
