Rohit Sharma was at his hilarious best following a candid interview during the lunch break on Day 2 of the India-Australia Sydney Test. The Indian skipper surprisingly opted out of the crucial final Test with India trailing 1-2 in the best-of-five series, with Jasprit Bumrah taking over as captain.

With much speculation around Rohit's decision and the possibility of a Test retirement following the series, the veteran cricketer put those thoughts to bed during the interview on Star Sports.

However, as he finished the chat, the interviewer thanked Rohit for his services as a leader and captain. A visibly furious Rohit dismissed any notions about him possibly not playing Tests again and walked away, much to the delight of Irfan Pathan, who was part of the interviewing crew.

Here is a video clipping of the hilarious moment:

Rohit has been in woeful form in Test cricket, averaging under 11 over his last 15 innings with a lone half-century.

The 37-year-old hit rock bottom in the ongoing series with the highest score of only 10 in five innings at an average of 6.20. Rohit dropping himself midway through the series as captain was a first in Indian cricket history.

Rohit Sharma confirmed he had no plans of walking away from Test cricket and that the decision to sit out the Sydney Test was solely due to his poor form with the bat.

He also slammed the critics and reporters for preempting his future in the game in a stunning interview at the Lunch break on Day 2 of the ongoing fifth Test.

"This is not a decision of retirement. I am not moving away from this game. But I took a decision to step away from this game because I was not able to score runs with the bat. There is no guarantee that I will score runs 2 months or 5 months from now. I have seen a lot of cricket, every minute, every second and everyday life changes. I believe that things will change but at the same time, I have to be realistic as well," said Rohit [via India Today].

He added:

"People sitting in the commentary box, or writing with a laptop in their hands, will not decide how my life goes. I have played the game for so long, that they will not decide when I play, how I play, when I captain, or when I step down. I am a sensible person, a mature person, father of 2 kids, I have some brain, and I know what I want from my life."

Meanwhile, the Sydney Test is hanging in the balance with Australia battling away at 157/6 in response to India's first innings total of 185.
