Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne survived a major scare to continue his resilient charge in the second innings on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test. The right-handed batter's stay at the crease almost came to an end after the ball was on the way to hit the stumps after an inside edge deflected off his leg. However, the ball bounced marginally over the stumps to hand the No.3 batter, a huge reprieve,

The potential game turning point of the game came during the 46th over bowled by Akash Deep. Labuschagne attempted to defend the right-arm pacer's full-length delivery tentatively, but could only make contact with the inside half and the edge. The ball, after hitting the back of Labuschagne's back leg, moved to his blind spot.

It was too late by the time he could turn back and attempt to thwart the ball off its trajectory towards the stumps. But, luckily the ball bounced and looped just over the bails. Labuschagne held a hand to his helmet in utter relief, while Kohli slumped to the ground in sheer disbelief.

Have a look at the incident right here:

Labuschagne is the last obstacle India potentially face in the innings as Jasprit Bumrah's stunning spell in the second session had reduced Australia to 91-6 at one stage.

Shortly before the potential stumps mishap, Labuschagne was handed another reprieve after Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped him in the slip cordon.

During the 40th over of the innings by Akash Deep, the batter had edged one behind the wickets, but only for the Indian youngster to drop a sitter, and earn Rohit Sharma's wrath.

Labuschagne's luck runs out as Siraj traps him LBW for 70

The right-handed batter's tenacious stay at the crease ended as Mohammed Siraj began his spell by trapping him LBW. He went for a review after the on-field umpire adjudged the decision as out, but India got the decision in their favor as DRS showed wickets hitting as umpire's call.

Labuschagne departed after scoring 70 runs off 139 deliveries as Australia were reduced to 148-7, with the lead reading 253 runs at the minute.
