Mohammed Siraj removed Usman Khawaja to complete his 100th wicket on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Syndey on Sunday, January 5. Khawaja was caught behind after scoring 41 runs off 45 balls, comprising four boundaries.
This was Siraj’s fourth wicket in the Test match. He achieved the 100th Test scalp in his 35th Test. He earlier scalped 13 wickets in the previous four Tests Down Under.
The dismissal came in the 19th over of Australia’s second innings. Siraj bowled a good length ball angled across and Khawaja went for the pull but only managed an under edge to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. This was the fifth time that he's dismissed Khawaja in Tests.

Australia are on the verge of a 3-1 win against India in the BGT 2024-25. The tourists managed only a 162-run target for the hosts after getting bundled out for 157 in the fifth Test. Rishabh Pant top scored with 61 runs off 33 balls while other batters struggled. Scott Boland bagged a six-fer for the Aussies, while skipper Pat Cummins bagged three wickets.
Chasing 162, Australia were 134/4 at the time of writing, with Beau Webster and Travis Head at the crease. Prasidh Krishna has been the top wicket-taker this innings, having scalped three wickets so far, but he's also conceded runs in abundance.
Batting first, the visitors were bundled out for 185 in the first innings. Pant top scored with 40 off 98. Boland emerged as the leading wicket-taker with four scalps. Mitchell Starc and Cummins also picked up three and two wickets, respectively.
In response, the hosts were bundled out for 181. Debutant Beau Webster top scored with 57 off 105. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took three wickets each for the visitors. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets apiece.
Australia are 2-1 ahead in the five-game series after winning the second and fourth Tests by 10 wickets and 184 runs, respectively. India’s only win came in Perth, where they won the series opener by 295 runs.
