Nitish Reddy's father was seen in utmost joy and tears when his son notched up his maiden Test hundred on Day 3 (December 28) of the ongoing fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne. His father gave a hilarious response after his son reached the historic landmark.
Adam Gilchrist was seen asking Reddy's father how he felt when his son was stranded on 99 and Mohammed Siraj had to face three balls before the all-rounder could get back on strike to complete his century.
His father expressed that he was feeling very tensed as it was the last wicket and Siraj was the batter at the other end. Fans in the crowd beside him added that he was praying for his son's hundred and for Siraj to not get out.
"Very very tension sir. Last wicket Mohammed Siraj, very tension tension," he hilariously replied to Gilchrist via X.
Gilchrist added that all of India and every cricket lover was also praying with Nitish Reddy's father. The former Australian wicketkeeper-batter also congratulated him and his family.

Nitish Reddy slams record maiden Test hundred in Australia
There could have been no better venue than the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for Nitish Reddy to have slammed his maiden Test hundred. The 21-year-old all-rounder also made several records courtesy of his terrific century.
Reddy remained unbeaten on 105 off 176 deliveries at the close of play on Day 3. He smashed 10 fours and also hit a six in his innings. Given the situation India were in, having lost key wickets and trailing, his century became more special. It has kept the visiting team in the game, helping them cut down the deficit.
India finished the day on 358/9 and now trail by 116 runs after Australia put up a huge total of 474 on the board after batting first.
