MS Dhoni was recently spotted enjoying a bike ride in his hometown, Ranchi. He was last seen in action on Saturday during the final league match of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). It was a disappointing night for him and the yellow franchise as RCB beat them by 27 runs to knock them out of the tournament.

Courtesy of the win, the Royal Challengers joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the playoffs.

MS Dhoni traveled back to Ranchi immediately after CSK bowed out of the tournament in the league stage. An X user shared a video on the social media platform to give a glimpse of the iconic cricketer riding a bike in Ranchi.

MS Dhoni played the finisher role well for CSK this season, scoring 161 runs across 14 games at an astonishing strike rate of 220.55, including 13 sixes and 14 fours.

"I do believe that this will be the last time that MS Dhoni will play" - Matthew Hayden

Former Australian and CSK batter Matthew Hayden believes that we have seen the last of MS Dhoni as a player in the IPL. Speaking to Star Sports during the Cricket Live show, Hayden speculated about Dhoni's future in IPL and opined that the former CSK captain might be a part of the support staff in an official capacity from next season.

Hayden said:

"I think this is it. I do believe that this will be the last time that MS Dhoni will play. Certainly, won’t be the last time that we see Dhoni. I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t mentor or be a part of the family of CSK in an official capacity. I suppose the thing is when you come to the end of your career, whether it is the last part of his career or not, what you don’t want to see is diminishing returns as an athlete."

Hayden continued:

"This is telling me that nothing here is about becoming anything else other than first place. He’s desperately using his brains, all of that cricket knowledge. And of course, the power is there and that’s always been MS Dhoni. He’s always hit balls at this stage of an innings. At the front, you can understand how players can hit it. But at the back, it’s really hard to hit balls."
