MS Dhoni's wife Sakshi was delighted as her husband survived a first-ball dismissal in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (CSK) in Chepauk on Sunday. With that, Dhoni also got off the mark with a boundary to continue his sublime form in the T20 extravaganza.

The incident happened in the 20th over of the Super Kings' innings. T Natarajan bowled a low full toss and Dhoni went for a big shot towards deep square leg. Abhishek Sharma ran in to take the catch but failed to lay his hands on the ball, which went for a boundary. The Chepauk crowd, including Sakshi, were delighted as Sharma failed to grab the ball, resulting in a boundary.

MS Dhoni then took a single off the next ball he faced to finish with 5*(2). The wicketkeeper-batter is yet to be dismissed this season, scoring 96 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 259.45.

Ruturaj Gaikwad missed out on a well-deserved century but CSK posted 212/3 against SRH in IPL on Sunday.

The skipper led from the front, scoring 98 runs off 54 balls in an innings laced with three sixes and 10 boundaries. He shared a 107-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell for the second wicket. Mitchell and Shivam Dube also chipped in with 52 (32) and 39*(20), respectively.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, and Jaydev Unadkat bagged one wicket apiece.

CSK will now look to return to winning ways after losing to Lucknow Super Giants in their last two games. The five-time champions will also be eyeing to avenge their six-wicket loss against the Hyderabad-based franchise earlier this season.

Meanwhile, SRH would be looking to emulate LSG and defeat CSK by chasing a 200+ target at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Sunrisers lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 35 runs in their last outing.
