Shreyas Iyer set to enter the IPL 2025 mega auction
Shreyas Iyer had a fantastic year with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as he captained the team to title victory in the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, despite the successful campaign, the franchise parted ways with their skipper ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
The three-time champions retained Rinku Singh (₹13 crore), Sunil Narine (₹12 crore), Andre Russell (₹12 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (₹12 crore), Harshit Rana (₹4 crore) and Ramandeep Singh (₹4 crore). KKR retained six players, leaving them with zero Right to Match options.
The Kolkata-based team trumped SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 final completing a comprehensive eight-wicket victory. Shreyas amassed 351 runs across 14 innings in the seasons at a striker rate of 146.86 and an average of 39.
He is expected to be in great demand at the IPL 2025 mega auction as he has proven captaincy skills in the league. The 29-year-old will be up for grabs from ₹2 crore. The event is set to take place at Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24 and 25.
