Australian spinner Nathan Lyon was dismissed for 13 on Day 2 of the side's ongoing Boxing Day Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India. The lower-order batter was the last wicket to fall as the hosts were bowled out for 474 in the first innings.
In the 123rd over of the Australian innings, Lyon was hit on the pads off speedster Jasprit Bumrah and the on-field umpire adjudged it LBW. The veteran bowler was convinced it was the correct decision but still hilariously opted for DRS while walking back.
Despite taking the review, Lyon marched off the field and even Bumrah collected his cap from the umpire as the Indian players started walking towards the pavilion.
The ball-tracking showed that the ball would have gone on to hit the bails and the decision was upheld. You can watch the video of Lyon's hilarious review below:
Nathan Lyon was Jasprit Bumrah's fourth victim in the Boxing Day Test as the Indian pace spearhead finished with a four-wicket haul. For Australia, former captain Steve Smith slammed his 34th Test ton, scoring 140 runs off 197 balls.
"What did you do wrong to bat one down?" - Nathan Lyon asks KL Rahul about his change of batting position
Team India's senior batter KL Rahul opened the batting in the BGT 2024-25 at Perth in Rohit Sharma's absence. Sharma missed the Test due to his paternity leave.
Rahul registered scores of 26 and 77 in the encounter and retained his opening position even though Rohit Sharma was back for the second and third Tests. However, the India captain returned as an opener for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
Sharma was dismissed for just three runs in India's first innings. When Rahul walked out to bat at No. 3, Nathan Lyon cheekily asked the batter about losing his batting position despite doing an impressive job in the role.
India are off to a shaky start with the bat, losing Sharma and Rahul early. The visitors closed at 51/2 before Tea on Day 2.
