Indian all-rounder Nitish Reddy succumbed to a golden duck in the ongoing fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia. The iconic Sydney Cricket Ground is hosting the riveting clash, which also has the World Test Championship (WTC) points on the line.
It all happened in the 57th over of India's first innings, with Scott Boland firing on all cylinders. In the fourth ball, Boland trapped Rishabh Pant (40) with a shorter ball as the latter was caught at the mid-on region. The following ball witnessed the right-arm pacer delivering a good-length ball around the sixth stump.
After hitting the deck, the ball seamed away and climbed to Reddy, who could just edge it to Steve Smith, stationed at the second slip. The dismissal left India in tatters at 120/6.
Check out the dismissal below:
Nitish Reddy slammed a sensational hundred in the last game, which kept the visitors in the hunt until the final day. With his knock, he also became the first Indian No. 8 to score a ton on Australian soil. However, he returned with scored of 1 & 0 in his last two innings.
BGT 2024-25: Scott Boland completes 50 wickets in Test cricket
Scott Boland has breathed fire in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series with his exceptional performances. Earlier in the first session, he dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) and Virat Kohli (17).
With the back-to-back breakthroughs dismissing Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy, Boland completed 50 Test wickets in his 13th appearance. Interestingly, he became the oldest (35y 267d) seamer to reach this mark since Bevan Congdon (37y 10d) in 1975.
Boland made his Test debut against England in December 2021. He helped Australia to win by an innings and 14 runs with his sensational figures of 6/7.
However, Scott Boland hasn't gotten much opportunity in recent years, due to the trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood's injury in the BGT 2024-25 resulted in Boland getting a chance to showcase his talent.
