Nitish Reddy's historic maiden Test hundred at the MCG
There could have been no better venue than the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground for Nitish Reddy to bring up his maiden Test century. The youngster did so in style, playing an incredible knock under pressure.
Notably, India had lost seven wickets when Washington Sundar and Nitish were at the crease. The right-hander had shown glimpses of his ability with a few impressive knocks earlier in the series.
However, Nitish Reddy realized his full potential on Day 3 (Saturday, December 28) of the fourth Test, recording his maiden Test ton. As the rain stopped play, Reddy remained unbeaten on 105 off 176 deliveries, scoring 10 fours and a six as well, batting at a strike rate of 59.66.
More importantly, his knock helped India from being bowled out quicker and reduced the deficit as well. The visitors still trail by 116 runs with a wicket remaining.
After a string of impressive yet small scores, the young all-rounder proved his ability to play the big innings and take responsibility out in the middle, against a potent Australian bowling attack.
