Team India skipper Jasprit Bumrah passed a cheeky comment at Australian opener Sam Konstas when he wasn't able to strike the ball cleanly on Day 2 of the fifth Test. Sydney Cricket Ground hosts the last of the five Tests in the series, which sees Australia lead by 2-1.
Tempers flared on Day 1 when Jasprit Bumrah and Sam Konstas had a go at each other, with Konstas chirping something to Bumrah and the pacer, quite animatedly, replying to the batter. Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja off the next delivery and the Indian side went around Konstas to celebrate the wicket.
On Day 2 (January 4), when Jasprit Bumrah came on to bowl a spell, Team India's batting ace Virat Kohli handed the ball to Bumrah and said:
"Yes Bumrah, here is your man"
Furthermore, when discussing plans for the batter, he added:
"Uske paas daalenge toh woh maarne jaayega. Ek hi over hai, chance leke dekh (If we bowl close to him, he will try to hit it. We have just the one over, take a chance and see)"
Bumrah bowled a couple of deliveries, which Konstas failed to connect well and had a few mishits. When walking back to his mark, Bumrah said:
"Number 10"
Take a look at the moment below:
Sam Konstas was dismissed for 23 runs off 38 balls in fifth BGT 2024-25 Test
Sam Konstas started nicely, opening his account with a flick against Jasprit Bumrah and getting a boundary. He ended Day 1 with the Indian team having a go at him and the bowlers having some hostile spells in the tank for him.
Konstas went chasing after a wide delivery bowled by Mohammed Siraj and got a leading edge, which went straight to Yashasvi Jaiswal in the slips. The 19-year-old, playing only his second Test, registered 23 runs in 38 balls after scores of 60 and 8 on debut at the MCG.
