Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy guided tail-ender Mohammed Siraj in their last-wicket partnership in the early stages of Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. The youngster got to his maiden Test hundred on the back of the pacer's resilience with the bat in the first innings.

The pair had batted together during the final session of Day 3 before poor light ended proceedings. They resumed their innings on Day 4, with India looking to reduce the lead as much as possible before Australia came in to bat in their second innings.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's advice for Siraj was caught on stump mic. He was seen instructing his partner to leave the deliveries outside the off-stump.

"Miyan bhai, off pe khade rehna. Bahar ka ball chodd do. Ghumega nahi. Ghum gaya toh kuch nahi kar sakte, chodd do use (Miyan bhai, stand on the off-stump guard. Leave the balls outside the area. It won't turn. Can't do anything if it turns, so leave them)," Reddy told Siraj (via Star Sports).

Siraj was moved down to No. 11 once again after Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep put on a show with the bat for the final wicket in the third Test in Brisbane.

The two batters, who hail from Andhra, put on a valuable stand for the last wicket.

Siraj had a huge task after coming in, needing to defend three balls to get Nitish back on strike to complete his hundred. The tail-ender understood the assignment and hung on at one end. The all-rounder notched up his ton and added a few more handy runs down the order.

Their partnership came to an end after Nitish was dismissed for 114 while trying to take down Nathan Lyon over long-off in the 120th over. India finished with 369 on the board, with Siraj remaining unbeaten on four runs off 15 deliveries.

The right-arm pacer has found his mojo with the ball as well, producing a probing first spell after not being given the new ball. He castled Usman Khawaja with a stunning delivery after a wicketless outing in the first innings.
