Yashasvi Jaiswal, who previously had a verbal exchange with Australian opener Sam Konstas during the fourth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was spotted engaging in more sledging with the 19-year-old batter on Saturday, January 4. The incidence occurred during Australia’s first innings of the ongoing fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
On Day 2, during the sixth over of Australia's first innings, Jaiswal was observed mocking Konstas with the remark:
“Kya ho gaya, ab shots nahi dikh rahe kya? Oye Konstas, shot nahi lag rahe kya abhi?" [What happened, are you not playing any shots now? Hey Konstas, can't you hit a shot anymore?]
Here’s a video of the moment:
The 19-year-old Aussie was sent packing by Mohammed Siraj, with Jaiswal taking a brilliant catch in the gully. Konstas scored 23 runs off 38 balls, which included three boundaries.
Meanwhile, Konstas made an impressive start to his career in the Boxing Day Test, scoring 60 runs off 65 balls in his debut innings, although he was dismissed for just 8 in the second.
