Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna took his third wicket of the match, providing a key breakthrough for the visitors by dismissing Australian debutant Beau Webster on Day 2 (Saturday, January 4) of the fifth Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match is being held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The dismissal happened on the second ball of the 48th over of Australia's first innings. Krishna bowled a short-length delivery outside off, and Webster, attempting to push at it, edged the ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal, positioned at gully, took a sharp catch.

In his debut match, the 31-year-old played a solid innings, scoring 57 off 105 balls, including five boundaries. His dismissal left Australia at 166-9 after 47.2 overs.
India takes a 4-run first innings lead in 2024-25 BGT 5th Test
India won the toss and chose to bat in the fifth Test of the 2024-25 BGT, with regular captain Rohit Sharma sitting out due to his recent poor form. However, the visitors got off to a rocky start as they quickly lost their top four - Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), KL Rahul (4), Shubman Gill (20), and Virat Kohli (17).
Rishabh Pant fought hard to score 40, remaining India's top scorer. Ultimately, India were bowled out for 185, with Scott Boland shining for the hosts, taking four wickets.
In response, Australia lost opener Usman Khawaja (2) on the final ball of Day 1. The Indian bowlers were exceptional on Day 2, quickly sending back Sam Konstas (23), Marnus Labuschagne (2), and Travis Head (4). Meanwhile, Steve Smith contributed 33 runs. Debutant Beau Webster was the standout performer for Australia, scoring 57 off 105 balls.
For the visitors, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna each took three wickets, while captain Jasprit Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed with two wickets apiece. Australia were bowled out for 181, allowing India to take a narrow four-run lead in the first innings.
