Glenn Phillips took the prize scalp of Ravichandran Ashwin on Day 3 (Sunday, November 3) of the third Test between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ashwin managed a faint edge on its way to the wicketkeeper, leaving India in shambles at 121/8 in a 147-run chase.
The dismissal came in the 29th over of India’s second innings. Ashwin went for a reverse sweep against Phillips and there was a bit of glove on its way to the wicketkeeper Tom Blundell. The right-handed batter went for a review but it ended in vain. The replays showed the ultraedge and Ashwin looked disappointed while walking back to the pavilion.

Ravichandran Ashwin fails to deliver again with the bat ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Ravichandran Ashwin failed to deliver with the bat in the Test series against New Zealand. The 38-year-old returned with scores of 4, 18, 6, 8, 6, and 8 (today) in the three-match series. He has now gone seven innings without a half-century following his knock of 113 against Bangladesh. The senior batter will be looking to make amends in the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts in Perth on November 22.
Ashwin has managed similar numbers in Australia, scoring 384 runs in 10 Tests (19 innings), including two half-centuries. The off-spinner, however, has been exceptional with the ball, scalping 39 wickets.
As far as the third Test is concerned, New Zealand beat India by 25 runs to complete a 3-0 whitewash. This was the only third consecutive loss for the Men in Blue since 1958-59 and 1976-77 against West Indies and England at home.
Chasing 147, the hosts were bundled out for 121, with Rishabh Pant (64 off 57) as the only positive. Ajaz Patel picked up six wickets in the second essay following his fifer in the first innings.
The tourists had won the first two Tests by eight wickets and 113 runs in Bengaluru and Pune, respectively.
