Ravindra Jadeja bowled an absolute jaffa to dismiss Glenn Phillips on Day 1 of the ongoing third and final Test between India and New Zealand at Wankhede in Mumbai on Friday, November 1. As a result, Phillips departed for 17 off 28 balls, leaving the visitors in a spot of bother at 187/6.

The dismissal came in the 53rd over of New Zealand’s first innings. Jadeja bowled a good length delivery on the middle stump that pitched and skidded from there rapidly. Phillips leaned forward to defend but the ball found the tiny pad and bat gap to crash into the stumps.

Ravindra Jadeja helps India fight back against New Zealand

A clinical bowling display from Ravindra Jadeja helped India fight back against New Zealand after an 87-run partnership between Will Young (71 off 138) and Daryl Mitchell. Jadeja dismissed Young and Tom Blundell in the same over before dismissing Phillips.

At the time of writing, the Kiwis were 192/6 at tea break, with Mitchell (53 off 96) and Ish Sodhi (one off seven) at the crease.

Apart from Jadeja, Washington Sundar bagged two wickets, dismissing Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra. Akash Deep provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Devon Conway early.

The Kiwis have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series. They won the opening game by eight wickets before winning the second match by 113 runs. India are searching for a consolation win to keep their World Test Championship (WTC) hopes alive.
