Team India skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for three in the ongoing pink-ball practice game against Australian Prime Ministers XI at the Manuka Oval, Canberra on Sunday (December 1). Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team that plays the second Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on December 6.
Rohit surprised everyone watching the game when he walked out to bat following KL Rahul's decision to retire out of the game. He walked in at four, a position above where he was listed to bat and had a nervous first couple of deliveries. Rohit got off the mark on the eighth delivery he faced and then added a brace as well, looking in good touch.
However, on the third ball of the 21st over, Rohit looked to defend one delivery on the fourth stump. The ball did a bit off the surface and took the outside edge, which landed straight into the hands of Oliver Davies in the slips, ending his short stay in the middle.
Take a look at the dismissal below:
Rohit was dismissed for three runs off 11 deliveries. He was replaced by Nitish Kumar Reddy in the middle.
Team India well poised in the chase of 241 against Australian PM XI
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Team India restricted the Australian Prime Minister's XI to 240 in 43.2 overs. Sam Konstas (107 off 97) played a fine knock before becoming the eighth wicket to fall and had able support from Hanno Jacobs (61 off 60) to help their side guide towards a solid total on board.
KL Rahul (27 off 44) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 off 59) opened the batting for the visitors, with Jaiswal becoming the first wicket to fall. At the moment, Team India are on 118/2 after 25 overs, with the team needing 121 runs to win.
