India captain Rohit Sharma was recently seen interacting with a fan during India's practice session. Rohit was sweating it out in the nets ahead of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne, scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 26.
The right-hander was working on his batting when a fan watching team India's practice made a request. In a video shared on the internet, the fan can be heard saying, "Rohit bhai, chhakka maaro," asking the Indian captain to hit a six during the training.
Rohit Sharma took a moment, looked up at the fan, and responded, saying:
"Who is that? You want a six?"
He then took his stance, got back into position, and resumed his batting session in the nets, defending the next ball. Below is the video of the incident during India's net session at the MCG:
Rohit Sharma is under pressure to perform amid poor Test form
India captain Rohit Sharma has failed to fire with the bat in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He missed the first Test in Perth and joined the team ahead of the Adelaide Test.
He changed his batting position to No. 6, which has been highly debated. The change did not bring him success, as he had a poor outing in Adelaide, scoring three and six in the two innings.
The third Test in Brisbane was not a fruitful one for Rohit with the bat either. He scored 10 runs in the first innings and did not bat in the second. With the series leveled 1-1 with two Tests remaining, the Indian skipper will be under pressure to find form and deliver with the bat.
It will be interesting to see if the skipper continues to bat lower down the order or pushes himself back at the top, where he has had more success. The Melbourne Test will be crucial for Rohit Sharma not just as a captain but also as a senior batter in the side.
