[Watch] Rohit Sharma warns Marnus Labuschagne for running on the pitch during BGT 2024-25 4th Test

India captain Rohit Sharma was seen warning Australia batter Marnus Lauschagne on the opening day (Thursday, December 26) of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne.

Rohit was disappointed by Marnus, who was running on the pitch during play. In a video posted by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian skipper can be seen engaging in a discussion with Labuschagne, warning the batter not to run on the pitch.

Former India cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Irfan Pathan, who were in the commentary box, highlighted the incident as well.

Sunil Gavaskar said Sam Konstas, the youngster who made his debut in the ongoing Test, was also seen running on the pitch. Both the former cricketers remarked that it was the on-field umpires' job to warn the batters but they did not do anything and just watched on while Rohit Sharma and Marnus Labuschagne discussed the matter.

Rohit Sharma-led Indian team toil hard on Day 1 of 4th BGT 2024-25 Test

Australia opted to bat first on the opening day of the fourth BGT 2024-25 Test in Melbourne. The hosts made the visitors work hard with the ball, ending the day on 311/6.

Openers Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja laid a solid foundation with an 89-run stand before Labuschagne (72) and Steve Smith (68*) further piled on the runs. Konstas impressed on his debut with a 65-ball 60 while Khawaja played a patient knock, scoring 57 runs off 121 deliveries.

India did manage to pick up some quick wickets toward the end of the day but were made to toil hard nonetheless. India's spearhead Jasprit Bumrah led the way, bagging three wickets, including the big scalp of Travis Head for a seven-ball duck. Akash Deep, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar chipped in with a wicket apiece.
