[Watch] Sabbir Hossain carried off on stretcher after nasty head collision in BPL 2024-25

Bangladesh all-rounder Sabbir Hossain was involved in a nasty head collision, following which he was carried off on a stretcher, during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 game between the Chittagong Kings and Rajshahi Durbar in Mirpur on Friday (January 3).

During the Kings' innings, Usman Khan pulled one delivery towards the mid-wicket region. As the ball was in the air, two fielders, Sabbir Hossain and Shaiful Islam, from Rajshahi Durbar attempted to take the catch.

With their eyes on the ball, the two players collided. Sabbir was sprinting in from deep square leg while Shaiful Islam ran in from short fine leg position. Following the collision, Sabbir went down to the ground and did not move.

The situation appeared to be serious as the stretcher was called on to carry him off the field. The all-rounder was visibly in pain with his hands on his head.

Sabbir Hossain came out to bat in the chase after the collision

27-year-old Sabbir Hossain was ushered off the field on a stretcher after going down following a head collision. He bowled only one over against Chittagong Kings and could not participate further in the first innings of the game.

It appeared to be a serious blow as he was unable to get up. However, fortunately, the injury may not have been as serious as first thought, with Sabbir Hossain walking out to bat during the Rajshahi Durbar's innings.

Sabbir opened the innings alongside Pakistan's Mohammad Haris in the chase of 220 runs. While his return to the field of play was a relief, his stay did not last long. The right-hander was dismissed for just eight runs off five deliveries. He did show some promise, scoring a couple of boundaries, but his stay was eventually cut short.

His side eventually lost the game by 105 runs, getting all out for 114.
