[Watch] Sam Konstas departs after a breezy start, falls to Prasidh Krishna in 2nd innings of BGT 2024-25 5th Test

Team India pace bowler Prasidh Krishna dismissed Sam Konstas for 22 runs on Day 3 (today, January 5) of the fifth Test against Australia at the Syndey Cricket Ground. Australia are chasing 162 runs to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the first time since 2014-15.

The Australian bowlers made light work of the Indian batting earlier in the morning. They gave away only 16 runs and picked up four wickets quickly. The hosts then had a rollicking start, scoring 34 runs in the first three overs and blazing off in the chase.

That would come to a halt of sorts on the penultimate delivery of the fourth over. Konstas, who was on strike and had got a few runs under his belt, opened his arms and looked to go after Prasidh Krishna yet again. The ball took a leading edge and went up in the air which Washington Sundar caught at mid-on.

Konstas was dismissed for 22 runs off 17 deliveries. Throughout the series, he has played four innings, scoring a 60 on debut and registering 113 runs.

India face an uphill task of defending 162 runs in the fifth BGT 2024-25 Test

Earlier today, visitors India were bowled out for 157 in 39.5 overs. They batted from their overnight score of 141/6 but they only managed 16 runs more, while losing four wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal (22 off 35) and Rishabh Pant (61 off 33) did the bulk of the scoring for the visitors.

The hosts had a solid start, racing away to 34 runs in the first three overs. Since then, Prasidh Krishna has struck thrice, dismissing Konstas and Marnus Labuschagne (6 off 20) and Steve Smith (4 off 9) and reducing the hosts to 58/3 after 10 overs.
