Playing his second Test, Australia's opening batter Sam Konstas showed no signs of nerves against Jasprit Bumrah and the new ball in the dying stages of Day 1 (Friday, January 3) of the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. The youngster walked down the track to hit the ace pacer for a boundary towards the midwicket region to kickstart the innings.

After bowling India out for 185 in 72.2 overs, Australia had a little phase of play to negotiate before Stumps. Bumrah has already shown in the series what he is capable of doing in such a time frame, particularly his burst in the first Test in Perth.

Australia's primary aim was to survive the tricky phase without any casualties. However, instead of playing defensive, Konstas made his intent clear by stepping out to flick Bumrah over midwicket for a first-ball boundary, taking everyone by surprise.

Have a look at the incident right here:

The 19-year-old batter danced down the track off the third delivery of the over as well and got to the non-striker's end.

He has already had a memorable battle against the ace pacer when Konstas made his debut in Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The right-handed batter had taken on Bumrah on the opening day, launching a wide array of unorthodox shots. The Indian pacer had his revenge in the second innings, castling him with a delivery that came back in and crashed into the stumps.

Sam Konstas gets involved in an altercation with Jasprit Bumrah to end Day 1 of the 5th BGT 2024-25 Test

Sam Konstas once again got on the wrong side of the Indian team, this time riling up Jasprit Bumrah of all people. The pair were involved in a major exchange of words and had to be separated by the on-field umpire.

A riled-up Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja to close out the day, leading to the entire Indian team celebrating right in front of the young batter. Australia ended Day 1 on 9-1 after three overs and trail by 176 runs in the first innings.
