Team India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson could not make an impression in yet another valuable opportunity as an opening batter in the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh. The right-handed batter perished after scoring just 10 runs off seven deliveries in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, October 9.

After being put into bat, Team India showed intent as Mehidy Hasan Miraz conceded three boundaries in his first over. Samson looked in sublime touch with a couple of fours through the off-side. After negotiating the first couple of deliveries by Taskin Ahmed from the other end, he returned to strike on the last ball.

Samson tried to carve the right-arm pacer through the off side. However, Taskin stuck with the slower delivery which he was using for the majority of the over. The batter was outdone by the lack of pace, and ended up playing the stroke way too early.

The resulting attempt saw the ball being chipped to mid-off, where skipper Najmul Shanto claimed a simple catch.

Have a look at the dismissal right here:

Samson had scored a promising 29 runs off 19 deliveries during the run chase in the first T20I before being dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The wicket-keeper batter has been part of India's shortest format endeavors for a while now. He was unused in the 2024 T20 World Cup, but had opportunities in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.

While he scored a fifty in the fifth T20I against Zimbabwe, he recorded two ducks against Sri Lanka.

Abhishek Sharma also departs inside the powerplay shortly after Samson's dismissal

The Men in Blue have been handed a test as both openers have been dismissed inside the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma followed suit in the very next over after being castled by Tanzim Sakib to mark another poor outing in the series. The left-handed batter, after scoring 16 in Gwalior, perished for 15 in the second contest.

As of writing, skipper Suryakumar Yadav is at the crease along with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. After five overs, India are placed at 36/2 after five overs.
