Rest of India (ROI) bowler Saransh Jain secured a crucial wicket by dismissing Mumbai batter Shreyas Iyer on Day 4 of their 2024 Irani Cup match on Friday, October 4. The game is being played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The dismissal occurred on the second ball of the 28th over. Saransh delivered a good length ball outside off stump, which turned sharply and stayed low. Iyer, caught on the back foot, could not adjust to the turn and low bounce, and the ball ultimately struck the leg stump, marking Mumbai's fourth wicket in their second innings.

Iyer scored eight runs off 12 balls, including one boundary. The right-handed batter’s wicket left Mumbai at 115/4 after 27.2 overs. At the time of writing, Mumbai were 125/6 after 34 overs in their second innings, leading by 246 runs, with Sarfaraz Khan (3) and Tanush Kotian (0) at the crease. Prithvi Shaw scored 76 off 105 balls.
Abhimanyu Easwaran shines with the bat for ROI in their first innings
Batting first, Mumbai posted a formidable total of 537 runs in their first innings, led by Sarfaraz Khan, who finished unbeaten on 222 off 286 balls, including 25 fours and four sixes. Ajinkya Rahane (97), Shreyas Iyer (57), and Tanush Kotian (64) also contributed significantly. For the Rest of India, Mukesh Kumar took five wickets.
In response, ROI captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed early for nine runs. However, his opening partner Abhimanyu Easwaran delivered a standout performance, scoring 191 off 292 balls with 16 boundaries and one six, marking his 26th first-class century.
Dhruv Jurel narrowly missed out on a century as well, making 93 runs off 121 balls, including 13 boundaries and one six, as ROI finished their innings at 416. Shams Mulani and Tanush took three wickets each for Mumbai.
