Zimbabwe cricketer Sean Williams demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship by walking off the field despite the umpire ruling him not out for a caught behind appeal during Day 2 (Friday, January 3) of the second Test against Afghanistan. The match is being played at the Queen's Sports Club in Bulawayo.

The notable incident occurred on the final ball of the 66th over of Zimbabwe's innings. Rashid Khan delivered an excellent googly, pitching fuller and spinning away from outside off. Williams attempted a drive but only managed a faint edge to the keeper.

Afghanistan's players appealed strongly, but the umpire ruled it not out. Despite this, the left-handed batter chose to walk off, acknowledging that he had indeed hit the ball. Rashid was seen applauding Williams for his exemplary sportsmanship.

Here’s a video of the moment:

The 38-year-old scored 49 runs off 52 balls, hitting eight boundaries.

Zimbabwe takes an 86-run first-innings lead in the 2nd Test against Afghanistan

Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to field. The hosts were exceptional with the ball, reducing Afghanistan to 83-5 in 31 overs, with none of the visiting batters able to convert their starts into significant innings. Rashid Khan provided a brief spark, scoring 25 runs off 20 balls, making him Afghanistan's top scorer as they were bowled out for 157.

Sikandar Raza and Newman Nyamhuri were the standout bowlers for Zimbabwe, each claiming three wickets.

In response, Zimbabwe didn't have the best start, losing four wickets for just 41 runs. However, captain Craig Ervine and veteran all-rounder Sikandar Raza steadied the innings with a 71-run partnership off 137 balls for the fifth wicket. Raza made 61 off 104 balls.

Ervine then formed another valuable partnership, adding 73 runs with Sean Williams for the eighth wicket. Williams scored 49, while Ervine, the last batter to fall, made 75 runs off 165 balls. Zimbabwe finished their innings at 243, taking an 86-run first-innings lead.

At the time of writing, Afghanistan were 18-2 in their second innings, still trailing by 68 runs.
