Inoshi Priyadharshani showed brilliant athleticism, as she took an exceptional catch to dismiss Ritu Moni in the Women’s Asia Cup game between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Dambulla on Saturday, July 20. With the catch, Priyadharshani helped the hosts continue their stronghold over Bangladesh by reducing them to 17/4 inside the powerplay.

The dismissal came in the sixth over of Bangladesh’s innings. Priyadharshani bowled a flighted delivery and Moni went for a straight shot but the bowler showed sharp reflexes to dive towards her right to complete a superb-looking catch.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the Asian Cricket Council captioned the post:

Bangladesh set a paltry 112-run target for Sri Lanka in Women’s Asia Cup match

A fighting display from captain Nigar Sultana helped Bangladesh reach a three-figure mark against Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup opener on Saturday. Sultana scored 48 runs off 59 balls with the help of six boundaries. Shorna Akter also chipped in with 25 off 14 deliveries. Rabeya Khan was the only other batter to reach double digits.

Inoshi Priyadharshani and Udeshika Prabodhani emerged as the leading wicket-takers for the Island Nation, picking up with two wickets each. Captain Chamari Athapaththu, Kavishi Dilhari and Sugandika Kumari chipped in with one apiece.

In response, Sri Lanka were 87/2 after 14 overs at the time of writing, with Kavishi Dilhari and Harshitha Samarawickrama at the crease. Vishmi Gunaratne departed for scoring 51 off 48, comprising one six and seven boundaries.

Sri Lanka finished as runner-up in the last edition of the tournament, losing to seven-time champions India Women in the final.

They will next lock horns with Malaysia Women in Group B clash at the same venue on Monday, July 22. Meanwhile, 2018 winners Bangladesh will play against Thailand in their next outing on the same day.
